Coffee4Kids Victorian Children's Bush Fire Appeal Fund

Commissioner Shane FitzsimmonsHello Everyone

I know you are as shocked and saddened as I am over bush fire disaster that has swept through large parts of Victoria causing unprecedented loss of life and property. I hope that, like me, you would like to do something to give a helping hand to those affected by these fires, especially to children.

To do this the Service’s sponsored charity, Coffee4Kids is running a special Bushfire appeal for the Victorian children in need called "The Coffee4Kids Victorian Children's Bush Fire Appeal Fund".

Coffee4Kids FoundationTo start the appeal the Rural Fire Service Association has very generously donated $10,000 and if you want to make a contribution as well, just click on the Donate Now button below and follow the instructions or alternatively simply send a cheque or money order to:

As ambassador for Coffee4Kids I would like to invite you to our inaugural Ball to enjoy an atmosphere of fun and celebration for RFS members, their friends and families and raise much needed funds to make a difference to the health, safety and well being of Children in NSW and Victoria.

Bush Fire Danger Period starts

The statutory Bush Fire Danger Period runs from October 1st to March 31st, however it may vary due to local conditions. If you are planning to light a fire in the open during this time, you will need a permit.

For more information showing where the Bush Fire Danger Period has been declared and permits to burn are currently required see Where are permits required. Guidance on obtaining a fire permit can be found on the Fire permits and bush fire danger period page.

Prepare your home. Prepare yourself.

FireWise communities experience fewer fires and fewer fire-related deaths, injuries and property losses. For those people living in bush fire prone areas, it is imperative to understand the risks of bush fire, make preparations accordingly, and be Bush FireWiseDeciding to Stay and Defend, or Leave Early is a critical decision as most people who die in bush fires die as a result of unplanned last-minute relocations or evacuations.
